Masterpiece

The walls in my apartment have been bare ever since I moved in 2 years ago. I've long since wanted to put something up, but what? It had to be something I absolutely loved and worthy of the money it would cost to get it professionally framed.
My answer was finally answered a month or so ago when I had some ideas and got my act together, figuring out printing, framing and mounting. This post is about the first piece of a group that i'll be writing about over next week.
It is, of course, something :D related, and that is the wood carving I posted about October last year.
From first glance at this photo I was in love with it, it's probably my favourite :D related thing so far. It was carved in a table in Melbourne by a friend, who also took the photo.
Obtaining the original file, I uploaded it to a photo printing company called RGB Digital based in Brisbane. Selecting 30x20" size and a matte finish for about $17, RGB Digital printed and shipped it same day via courier, overnight service, pretty awesome. 30x20" is bigger than I first thought.
The next step was getting this thing framed. I decided on ATOS Framing based in Brookvale. A fair distance away from where I lived but I had heard great things about them from a friend.
A white frame was recommended by my brother and a couple of weeks later it was ready.
The result is stunning, ATOS did a great job and I am very pleased, well worth the money. From the quality of the frame itself, the sealed back and the hanging wire, it's perfect.
Lastly was hanging this thing on my wall, this was the hardest step and took awhile to figure out the best option, after much research, multiple visits to the hardware store and a large hole in the wall... I found something suitable for the size and weight of the frame, it was a learning experience.
Thanks to D.P for the advice on printing, framing and hanging and A.M for the carving and photo, more to come soon.
