Christmas 2011

Like last year, I travelled up to Collaroy and stayed with my family for Christmas this year. The tree was constructed once again hanging from the roof with a cluster of gifts underneath.
My eldest brother also brought out his cheaply purchased battery operated train set that he spray painted silver, it was a nice touch. It even produces smoke somehow, it's probably toxic.
My mothers sisters take turns each year hosting christmas with the family and it was our turn this year, so the house had all sorts of decorations around the place.
The theme this year was goats, from bronze sculptures adorning the dinner table to one painted on the Christmas cake, I love their bloated looking belly, they are awesome.
Food was absolutely stunning with everyone in the family contributing, from a giant beef eye fillet covered with bacon and garlic, as well as roasted pumpkin, beetroot, beans, onions, salmon, bacon and tomatoes.
A surprise hit was fried halloumi with beetroot relish served on small lettuce leaves, it was incredible, and so simple to prepare, try it.
Dessert was Christmas Cake which I also posted about last year with some adjustments. As well as cherry pie, chocolate charlotte (mousse) and eggnog. I had a part in the dessert, which i'll be writing about in a few seperate posts following this one.
The weather was awesome on the day too, there were some nice cloud formations in the morning for the sunrise which I went and took some photos of, sunny and mostly clear skies during the day, great for a swim at the beach.
To everyone reading this post, I hope you all have a great Christmas and New Year.
Here are some photos i've taken from the past couple of days to match with the words above:
