Blueberries & Ice Cream

29th November 2010

Blueberries and ice cream, one of those simple things in life that I absolutely love and is one of my all time favourite desserts.

You've probably seen those small expensive punnets of blueberries in fruit markets and grocery stores who charge exorbitant amounts for such a small quantity.

If you know the right people you can get them wholesale in large bags, almost 10 times the amount for the same price.

Otherwise you can get them from Coles or elsewhere in 500g boxes (frozen), they are pure blueberries. It's about $1 per 100g compared to $4 per 100g when you get them fresh.

What makes blueberries special though is when they are frozen. They give a nice crunch with the creamy ice cream that is just not the same when they are room temperature.

Blueberries are also a rich source of vitamins, minerals and fibre. Would you like to know more?
